Kindaid is a fundraising group based at Our Lady’s Lillington which was started in 1996 to support several charitable projects, at home and abroad, either on a regular basis or in response to one-off appeals. Our funds are raised by arranging social events for the parish such as quiz nights, musical evenings, race nights and pudding evenings and through regular cake sales, raffles and running a monthly 50:50 club prize draw. We also receive occasional donations and legacies from individuals for which we are very grateful.
The group is run by a small number of regular volunteers based at Our Lady’s Lillington with the assistance of many willing helpers on our social evenings. Our founder, Ron Hall, has recently retired from the committee after 20 years of service and the group is now currently made up of the following individuals:
Jo Mander (Chairperson), Sue Sugars (Treasurer), Liz Mottram (Secretary), Mary Rouse, Ali Marshall, Anna Godwin, Rose Ghiggino
With the help of our generous supporters we have been able to donate to many causes around the world and at home to aid those in need and to ease suffering caused by poverty, conflict, drought and poor health.
We’ve helped organisations in Africa & Asia – supporting The Kiirua Orphanage Kenya, The Society of St Peter the Apostle (priest training fund), The Beth Fund (school equipment and books), CORD (rebuilding lives after conflict), Thare Machi Education (health education), Excellent Sand Dams (providing clean water) & the Africa Book Fund (medical books for hospitals).
And those closer to home – No More Floor Campaign (full changing facilities for disabled children and adults in Leamington Spa), Helping Hands Leamington Spa (supporting the homeless), Emmaus Coventry (housing and skills training), The Leamington Christian Mission, The Odessa Orphanage, Ukraine, Social Lunches & Teas for those in need in the parish.
Over the 20+ years we have been running, Kindaid has raised over £60,000 for those in need. This is a fantastic effort from all involved and we’ve also had so much fun along the way!
